Drawing your Tree of Life is a powerful storytelling approach that will help you reflect on your past, think about who you are today and explore what you want to do in the future.
It combines reflection questions and creativity to design a picture that is unique to you.
It’s particularly useful for young people who are trying to find their path in life, and for adults who feel stuck, unhappy with their personal or professional circumstances.
The methodology was created by Ncazelo Ncube-Mlilo, a South-African Narrative Therapist and Psychosocial Specialist. She developed it to support children affected by HIV and AIDS, and it is now used all around the world in mental health and psychosocial services to help people talk about their lives in ways that make them stronger.
Each element of the tree represents something about you
the roots are elements of your past that have shaped you.
the grass represents the present and the activities that you enjoy doing.
the trunk is about your unique set of values, strengths, skills and personality traits.
the branches represent your future hopes and dreams.
the leaves are the people that are significant to you.
the fruits are the gifts that you have received from others.
In this workshop, we will look at each element of the tree and you will then draw your very own tree using the materials and tools provided. We will finish the workshop on an action planning session to give you tangible steps to move forward. You will come away with clarity about the future and confidence in yourself to bring change in your life.
The power of working together
I will support you throughout this process by asking you powerful coaching questions to make you explore what you want to achieve and reflect on your goals and actions. I will also share my experience and tips to create a visual that you’ll be pleased to take home.
In a cosy and relaxed atmosphere, you’ll be with a small group of like-minded people who want to grow and make change happen in their life. It’ll be an opportunity to create your own plan by learning from each other in a safe and welcoming space.
Hosted at The Every Space, a beautiful gift and home shop at the heart of Walthamstow, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful objects, pictures and plants that will stimulate your creativity.
Taking a moment from the busy-ness of your life will empower you to focus on yourself, make decisions and take actions to get you closer to achieving your vision.
About me
Hi, I’m Catherine! I’ve been a career coach for the last 5 years. Before that, I used to work in HR and Talent Management. I decided to change careers to become independent and choose how to achieve my purpose of helping others grow. Over the years, I have worked with a wide range of clients from various backgrounds and at different stages in their life and career, supporting them with their personal development, career growth and life design. I love sharing what I’ve learned from my own career and my clients' experiences with others. Delivering workshops is something I really enjoy as I find that collective and collaborative thinking really enables you to think deeper and create empowering action plans!
