Agatha’s coaching journey
From real estate to teaching
The objective
When I signed up for coaching sessions I was in a state of confusion about my career. I had been offered a place elsewhere but lacked the confidence to make the jump and try something new. My mind was busy worrying about the small things and whilst my pro's list was longer than my con's list, I still didn't have the clarity of mind to make the decision. I was looking for someone independent to talk through the situation with.
I had never had any coaching sessions before, so the experience was new to me, I was conscious that I needed someone I felt comfortable speaking to openly and honestly.
the process
When I first started coaching, I was almost looking for someone independent to tell me what to do - what I received was even better, the confidence to make the decision for myself. Catherine listened to what I had to say and then asked questions that made me think for myself and develop my own thoughts and opinions about my situation. There are a number of exercises that helped me, in one of the earlier sessions we ran through the 'four questions you must ask before any decision', the most resonating question for me was 'What won't happen if you do x'. This made me realise how little there was to lose and how much there was to gain. We also talked about my life vision and where I see myself in the future, which gave me clarity on the direction I wanted to take. Instead of looking at the bigger picture/question I had, Catherine helped break it down into smaller more manageable pieces which made me feel less overwhelmed and more confident about the decision I had to make.
The result
The sessions have given me the clarity and confidence to make changes to my career and to start on a new path.
My style
You made me feel at ease during the whole process, you were friendly, approachable and nonjudgmental which allowed me to open up and speak freely about my situation.
